Plant Magic – After School Gardening and Herbalism

1 December, 2021 | 4:30 pm - 16 February, 2022 | 6:30 pm

Green Living, together with Jay Fletcher, is super excited to present to your kids a weekly program of herbal and gardening workshops full of curiosity, fun and wonder.
Every week brings along different discoveries, and colourful adventures. Adventures into the green world of plants where we will find a magical world of connection, healing, and friendship.
Children and gardening go together like peanut butter and jelly.
Why, you might ask? There are many reasons. It can be a great tool to teach valuable life lessons. Children who garden develop self-sufficiency, knowledge about where their food comes from, a deeper connection with their natural world and patience. They also witness a direct connection between nature and their own well-being. They see that the natural world is made up of many natural systems engaging with each other and they see how they can affect those systems. They also learn science. 🔍They can measure how far apart to plant seeds, learn about the life cycle of plants, find out about how bacteria decompose compost material, and so much more.
We will start with some basics. What is an herb? 🌱 How can you use herbs? Then over the next 1️⃣1️⃣ weeks we will learn how to make simple but effective medicines with much loved children’s herbs. We will also talk about planting a beautiful, whimsical garden, meeting our local wild herbal friends, making natural crafts, and creating delicious recipes in the kitchen.
We eagerly await to welcome your kids to our green space of magical childhood; the space where little and big miracles happen, as we witness the birth of creation and the beauty of connection happening before our eyes.✨✨ It’s so much fun!
If you would like your child to learn about the magic of herbs and herbalism, get in touch with us and book your space now, since due to the current restrictions spaces are limited.

Jay Fletcher is a life-long herbalist turned educator, dedicated to empowering people by increasing their knowledge and understanding of the healing power of plants through consultations, talks and workshops. Most people already practise herbalism at home, in the form of a chamomile tea before bed, lemon and ginger for a cold, and lavender for relaxation. Like most herbalists, Jay believes that connecting with nature through herbalism allows us to heal on many different levels.
Jay has a background in biology and qualifications in herbalism, massage and aromatherapy. Still committed to broadening her own knowledge, in 2020 she accepted a full scholarship from the Chestnut School of Herbal Medicine and began building and cultivating her first herb garden in Malta
