With the latest restrictions in full swing, we are all filling the void with online shopping and home deliveries. The upside to being stuck indoors is that technically we don’t have to get dressed, the downside is that we have to answer the doorbell about 6 times a day to a traumatised postman. And, if you have a new baby at home, you may have discovered recently that answering the door to anyone without unwittingly flashing your boobs can be a challenge.

We’ve come to the rescue with Island Bébé’s cheat-sheet on how to look presentable when you haven’t even showered.

I live in my slippers, and I grudge anyone who makes me take them off. I have maximised my slipper time by purchasing these little gems from Next.

Paired with leggings they look exactly like Ugg Boots, so when I take the bins out in the morning, I look like I’m ready to take on the world. And they’re only €28 euros!

When you welcome a new baby into the family, washing your hair is a thing of the past. I mean, forget it.

Instead, just throw a couple of cans of dry shampoo into your shopping basket next time you’re at the supermarket.

Give your hair a quick spritz in the morning, and no one will suspect that you have enough grease in your hair to deep-fry a large portion of chips.

I love that the bra I do the least sports in is called a sports bra. Although, I do think raising a child should be classed as a sport… an extreme sport.

For those bottle-feeding, or with toddlers who no longer breastfeed, this bra from Kiabi is an absolute god-send. It’s stretchy, thin, comfortable and you don’t have to worry about the postman seeing your traumatised nipples through your PJs when he delivers your latest Amazon order.

Yoga pants are essentially pyjamas. I mean you can use them to do yoga if you want, but I prefer not to, I simply enjoy the soft hug of the stretchy fabric around my permanently bloated tummy instead. I bought these from ASOS.

5. Bonus: Revlon One-Step Hair Dryer

revlon dryer look presentableOkay, so for this one technically you do need to shower, sorry. But, when you get that once-a-week opportunity to wash your hair, perhaps for a rare walk along the promenade, then this little bit of tech I got from Amazon will have you looking like you just came out of the hairdresser with next to no effort.

I’m sure you’ve attempted to recreate that salon-fresh look by trying to use a round brush and hairdryer at the same time, only to end up in a hot, frizzy mess with sore arms.

This hairdryer/brush combo does all the work for you in less than half the time. Perfect for those of us who only have a tiny window of time to spend on ourselves.

These are simply some tips we’ve discovered on our parenting journey, most days we don’t use them at all because being a mum is enough and no one should be worrying if they look presentable on top of all that. But, there are the occasional days when we do feel like sprucing up and can’t find the time – and that’s when we put on a sports bra.
